Fertility trait is believed to increase probability of having children, but only affects the chance of the new child belonging among the living generals of your family. I have tested many configs on Rome TW, and those are my impressions about this topic. Try also to not lose your generals too often. Hello all,
I recently went throught the export_descr_character_traits file and nitpicked all the various traits that would be of value to people who use the give_trait cheat and haven't been able to find the necessary full list of traits online. I just figured I'd drop this off, if it helps you great, if not feel free to call me a lazy stinking cheater

Rome Total War Traits Cheats

Okay, so I've been playing ETW for a while and I've noticed that there are no trait guides, like with M2TW. Can anyone give me some help and advice:
Kings: I've never noticed them gaining traits, only useless retinue.
Generals and Admirals: They actually gain traits, so I have no problem here.
Gentlemen: Although they do gain specific traits for enlightenment, military, and industrial, they don't gain traits for dueling, or that increase their overall stats (doctorate...)
Rakes: They NEVER gain traits. One of mine sabotaged over ten buildings, yet never got 'Good Saboteur' or anything else. They only gain counter intelligence traits.
Missionaries: They will, from time to time, gain negative traits claiming that a 'success or two' would reverse it. I have no clue what that means.
Ministers: When they do gain traits, they don't really make sense and I can't get rid of them. For example, I am playing as Russia, and it's 1702, so I'm not very far. Well, my 6 star financial minister just got 'Frugal and Thrifty' yet I am spending my entire treasury every turn.
The whole system just doesn't make sense, so can anyone give me advice on how to get positive traits for my people (like what the triggers are, because I have a link to M2TW that has every trait and every way to get each trait.)
Thanks

Gentlemen with more stars research faster.
Rakes with more stars will have a better chance of fulfilling the mission. The more missions, the more experience they gain meaning more percentage of the next mission.
Religious units with more stars will convert a larger percentage. The success I would assume would be the full or majority conversion of a region to your religion.
The more stars ministers have the more efficiently they will do there task. The thing about your bankruptcy is not his fault if he is six stares. Check your own actions because it is probably your fault. Russia naturally starts off losing money.

Thanks, but the problem isn't that I don't know what the traits do, I just have no clue how to get them. The thing about the Russian minister is that 'Frugal and Thrifty' says that I don't spend anything. However, I spend everything every turn, it's not that I'm bankrupt, it's just that he shouldn't have gotten that trait. Does anyone have a link to a guide with the triggers for all of these?

Rakes, gentlemen and missionaries gain stars from successful missions. If you assisinate or sabotage a place succelfully then the rake might gain a star. The same goes for other agents and their respective duties.
Ministers work differently. I don't believe you can change a minister's trait and that they come random. That is why you must chose ministers and not change them.
Generals gain stars and traits from either loses or victories.

Right, thanks, thats what I expected. So the ministers have no rhyme or reason to their system of traits. Rakes and other agents *rarely* which pretty much means never, get traits, and the generals work perfectly. It's just that there are guides for m2tw with all of the triggers for the traits, but there doesnt seem to be one for etw. Anyone know where i could find one?
